What is model fine-tuning?
Fine-tuning adapts a pretrained AI model with additional training on a specific task or dataset.
Training process
Examples are split into training, validation and test sets; weights are updated for target behavior. Test leakage, overfitting and regression of prior capabilities separately.
Uses and limitations
It can improve task or format fit. It is not always suitable for current facts; retrieval, prompting or rules may be simpler.
