What is an SBOM?
A software bill of materials lists components, versions and dependency relationships in a software product.
Software component inventory
Record direct and transitive dependencies during development and builds. Standard identifiers and versions speed up impact analysis when a vulnerability is disclosed.
Uses and limitations
The inventory must stay current and may miss dynamic dependencies. An SBOM gives visibility for analysis, not proof that software is secure.
