What is GraphQL?
GraphQL is a query language and execution model for APIs, allowing clients to request fields defined by a schema. It is not a database.
How it works and where it is used
1. How it works A schema defines types and fields. Clients select fields; server resolvers fetch and shape results. Mutations can describe write operations. 2. Applications and examples Different screens can share a schema, but requesting selected fields does not guarantee less server work or lower latency.
Limits and good practice
3. Limitations and security Deep or expensive queries can exhaust resources. Authorization must be enforced per field and object, with limits and cost controls. 4. Practical considerations Bound query complexity, test permissions, measure resolver performance and manage schema changes for older clients.
