What is Lemon tree?

Added: 25 October 2026

Lemon is an evergreen cultivated citrus hybrid grown for its acidic fruit.

Structure and life cycle

Form and fruit: It has glossy leaves, fragrant flowers and aromatic oil glands in the peel. Its juicy segments contain citric acid, while the colored rind differs from the white pith. Fruit color and ripening vary by cultivar and temperature; yellow color alone is not a universal maturity test.

Growth, uses and cautions

Growing: Frost sensitivity makes light, drainage, measured watering and nutrient balance important. Waterlogging can damage roots, while cold can reduce bloom and fruit. Juice and zest are used in cooking. Its acidity does not make lemon a substitute for medical treatment.
