What is fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia involves widespread pain often accompanied by poor sleep, fatigue and difficulty thinking clearly.
Symptoms, causes and assessment
The pain is real, but no single blood test or scan diagnoses it. Assessment considers symptom patterns and other possibilities such as thyroid or inflammatory disease. Severity may fluctuate.
Care and when to seek help
Gradual activity, sleep care, education and selected treatments are tailored to function. New weakness, fever or unexplained weight loss should not automatically be attributed to fibromyalgia.
