What is fatty liver disease?
Fatty liver disease refers to a broad group of conditions involving fat buildup in the liver.
Symptoms, causes and assessment
The newer term MASLD may describe forms linked to metabolic risk. Many people have no symptoms. Liver tests, imaging and related diabetes or lipid issues are considered. Fat buildup does not always mean the same amount of inflammation or scarring.
Care and when to seek help
Management depends on cause, weight context and risks; alcohol and medicine history matter. Avoid unproven “liver detox” products. Jaundice, marked abdominal swelling or confusion needs medical assessment.
