What is sleep hygiene?
Sleep hygiene means habits that support a regular, sleep-friendly routine and environment.
Symptoms, causes and assessment
A consistent wake time, light and noise control, bedroom conditions and caffeine timing may affect sleep. Advice is not one-size-fits-all; shift work, caregiving and illness may require other approaches.
Care and when to seek help
Seek assessment for persistent insomnia or impaired daytime functioning. Loud snoring or breathing pauses warrants sleep-apnea evaluation. Changing bedtime habits alone does not address every underlying problem.
