What is peer assessment?

Added: 25 October 2026

Peer assessment asks learners to give constructive comments on each other’s work using criteria.

Key concepts and practice

Start with a model and criteria. Comments should refer to observable work, such as a clear opening or missing evidence. A score or personal praise alone may not suggest next steps. Teachers model constructive wording.

Examples, evaluation and limits

The cycle includes considering feedback and revising work. Friendship or reluctance can introduce bias; teacher oversight and anonymous samples help. Responsibility for final grading should be explicit.
