What does an AI engineer do?
An AI engineer develops systems for specific tasks using data and models.
Duties and work settings
They define problems, assess data quality, evaluate models and deploy systems. A high accuracy score alone is insufficient: errors, data provenance and real-world conditions matter. Integrating existing models safely can also be part of the job.
Skills, safety and entry routes
They establish measurable checks for privacy, bias, safety, cost and human oversight. Monitoring and rollback matter because model behavior can change after release.
