How is interdisciplinary teaching planned?
Interdisciplinary teaching intentionally combines concepts and methods from multiple fields around a shared problem or theme.
Core approach and implementation process
Each subject's distinct contribution and outcome is specified; sharing a theme in the same week is not integration. A real question such as water management may require science data, geographic scale, mathematics and ethics. Learners identify which evidence and method belongs to each discipline. No subject should become decoration.
Classroom practice, monitoring and cautions
Teachers agree on schedule, vocabulary and criteria. Products are assessed for both integrated problem solving and disciplinary competence. Missing foundations are taught before the project. Explicit discussion of connections supports transfer to new situations.
