What is Interim injunction?

Added: 24 October 2026

An interim injunction is provisional protection sought where delay may jeopardize a right or cause serious harm. It is not the final judgment.

Definition and legal framework

1. Scope The Code of Civil Procedure governs requirements and process. The applicant identifies the right and risk from delay; the court sets a tailored provisional measure. 2. How it works An order may preserve property or stop a particular action. Implementation and security can matter. Filing a request alone does not freeze the other party’s conduct.

Consequences and application

3. Rights, conditions and exceptions Provisional measures affect both sides and can be challenged or reviewed. Proportionality and changing circumstances matter; unjustified measures may create liability. 4. Practical considerations Specify documents, urgency and the proposed limits. Verify current rules for service, implementation and follow-up proceedings.
