How should an LGS placement-transfer preference be reviewed?

Added: 4 November 2026

After the initial LGS placement result, placement-related transfer rounds follow their own timetable. MEB’s 2026 guide notice described the first round, while a later official notice announced the second. Rather than resubmitting an old list unchanged, review the student’s current assignment, the round-specific rules, school type and final confirmation state. Dates and eligibility for one year cannot be carried forward automatically into a subsequent cycle.

Identifying the transfer round

1. Which round is open? Open the placement-related transfer calendar in MEB’s guide for the relevant year. In 2026, applications for the first round were announced for 5–7 August, and a separate notice later addressed the second round. Those are examples confined to 2026. Record the initial placement result, the transfer application window and the new result date separately. Do not infer that an old-round screen is still accepting preferences. Before starting, verify the school shown in the student’s current official result. The applicable conditions may depend on that result as well as on the particular transfer round. 2. Why does the current placement matter? Whether the student obtained a preferred place in the first round can affect some restrictions on later local-placement transfer choices. MEB’s 2026 preference explanation shows that students who did and did not obtain a place may face different selection conditions. Do not generalize one year’s detail to every round or type of transfer. Compare the personal placement result with the corresponding clause in the current guide. A transfer choice for a school admitting by central exam and one for local placement can be governed by different rules. Read the correct interface and category before submitting. 3. How should vacancies be read? Match the school, district and type on MEB’s official result and vacancy pages. A displayed vacancy does not ensure a transfer, because other applications and placement criteria affect the result. The guide may separately explain whether an empty seat is required for listing a school, how many preferences are allowed and how capacity is allocated. A number from a previous result round can change in the next. Verify the precise school identity, including location and admission route. An unofficial spreadsheet is not a substitute for the current official interface at decision time.

Checking the new preferences

4. Why does the order matter? Order schools according to the student’s genuine preferences, distinguishing central-exam, local and any boarding-school choices in the applicable guide. Read the number of allowed choices and any registration-area requirements afresh for each round. A historical cutoff score or percentile is not a certain threshold for the new transfer. Consider the current school and possible outcomes of a new choice as a family. If the sequence saved in the interface differs from the handwritten plan, correct it before final approval. A completed list must reflect the student’s own intended order. 5. How is approval tracked? Check the guide for whether saving and school-office approval or another confirmation are required in the relevant transfer window. A visible school name in a draft does not necessarily mean an accepted transaction. Inspect the personal preference and confirmation state, then contact the authorized school office with a precise issue before the window closes. Keep the student’s identity number and password out of public groups. Approval received in an earlier preference period should not be treated as automatic approval of a later transfer. Follow the current round’s own instructions. 6. How is the outcome confirmed? On the result day specified for that round, open MEB’s official result screen and check the student’s new placement state. The second-round notice in 2026 appeared after the first-round outcome; follow current announcements for any change. Do not announce a completed transfer on the basis of vacancy arithmetic before results are issued. For subsequent school registration or commission procedures, follow MEB’s operative instructions. Filing a transfer preference alone neither guarantees a place at a particular school nor establishes that the previous situation has changed. The student’s official result is the decisive record.
