What is a welder?
A welder joins metal components according to drawings and suitable procedures. Joint integrity depends on preparation, process and inspection.
Welder: duties and training
1. Scope and core duties Welders prepare parts, select process and consumables, make joints and inspect them. Steel structures, pipelines and fabrication have different quality needs. 2. Daily work and tools Dimensions and surfaces are checked before settings and weld sequence. Heat and distortion are watched; visual and other tests assess joints. Defects need approved repair. 3. Education and entry Vocational schooling, apprenticeship and supervised practice are routes. Method- and material-specific credentials should be checked against current MYK rules.
Work, responsibility and career
4. Ethics, safety and responsibility Arc light, fumes, heat, fire and electric shock require ventilation, eye and respiratory protection and special confined-space procedures. Quality records matter. 5. Work settings and development Fabrication, maintenance, shipbuilding, energy and construction employ welders. Further methods and inspection skills support advancement.
