How should marks on an ÖSYM answer-sheet image be examined?

Added: 4 November 2026

ÖSYM’s answer-sheet viewer lets a candidate compare an image of the marked optical form, the answers detected by the reader and the official correct answers. These are three different pieces of information. For the 2026 YKS, ÖSYM opened the viewer through the Candidate Transactions System for a stated period; dates differ across years and exams. Inspection helps distinguish a possible reading discrepancy from an answer-key question, but it is not itself an official recalculation of the final score.

The image, the detected answer and the key

1. Which official screen is used? ÖSYM's announcement for the particular examination and year states when the answer-sheet viewer opens and how long it remains accessible. Its 2026 YKS notice directed candidates to sign in to AİS with their own credentials, select the relevant exam and choose the answer-sheet viewing screen. In that year access was announced from 21 July for ten days; do not carry those dates forward as a permanent rule. An old search-result link may no longer work. Follow the official osym.gov.tr announcement to the genuine AİS domain and avoid third-party pages asking for a password or national identity details. Keep the exam session in view when changing between answer sheets. 2. What are the three answer fields? The display can show the photographed or scanned sheet, the candidate response inferred by optical reading and the correct answer. A dark visible mark and the option recognized by the system need not always be interpreted identically. Where there is an erasure trace, more than one mark or an apparent shift, inspect the precise question row and booklet details. Merely looking at a key and saying 'I marked this option' is not enough evidence. Compare your own sheet image first, the detected answer second and the official key third for the same question number. Record the test and session name as well, so an observation can later be reconstructed without mixing two separate papers. 3. Why does booklet or question order matter? If a candidate compares different booklet layouts or misreads an on-screen question order, a correct answer can appear to belong to another item. Use the information ÖSYM displays for your own booklet and answer mapping. Before comparing a social-media image with the official screen, verify that session, subject and question number actually match. Knowing the key to one item does not explain the entire session score; blank responses, wrong responses and evaluation rules must be read together with the year's guide. This distinguishes a genuine suspected optical-reading difference from an error caused by matching the wrong question. An informal answer list can be a starting clue, not an official determination.

Discrepancies, deadlines and privacy

4. What if a discrepancy appears? Write down exactly which session, question and sheet row seem inconsistent. Is the concern a difference between the mark visible on the sheet and the detected answer, or a challenge to the correct answer itself? Those are not necessarily the same kind of request. Read the official announcement and guide for the applicable objection channel and time limit; do not upload personal details to an unrelated web form. Retain the minimum relevant personal evidence securely before temporary viewer access closes. This explanation cannot promise that a marked response will be changed or that an objection will succeed. The competent authority must examine the particular record and apply the published procedure. 5. Are raw correct counts and scores identical? Counting correct, wrong and blank items helps describe raw responses, but a reported examination or placement score can also depend on test weights, standardization and the rules for that year's assessment. Do not treat a results screen and the sheet viewer as the same record. ÖSYM's results notices and numerical information provide context for the evaluation; an online estimated-score calculator is not an official result. If your own calculation differs, first check the test, session, question and booklet correspondence. A shadow on a scanned form alone does not establish an erroneous result. The official result and any formal review have a different status from a personal estimate. 6. How should personal information be protected? An answer-sheet image can reveal a candidate's name, number, session and pattern of responses. If evidence is required for an objection, send only what the authorized ÖSYM channel asks for; never attach a password or identity details to a public social-media post. Store your own copy securely and review access if you have already shared it. The ten-day window in the 2026 notice is an educational example, not a promise about future viewing periods. Check the current exam's announcement, viewer and objection instructions together before drawing a final conclusion. When uncertain, ask ÖSYM through its official contact route instead of sending the sheet to strangers offering a guaranteed correction.
