How can approval of LGS local placement preferences be checked?
Entering LGS local placement choices and obtaining formal confirmation are distinct stages. MEB’s 2026 guide and official provincial guidance indicate that the personal preference screen and school-office approval both matter. A student and parent should verify school names, order, registration-area information and transaction status in the final list. A screenshot of an unfinished draft is not itself evidence that the choices have been approved.
Draft versus approval
1. How are choices entered? Open the local-placement area for the correct year in the student’s official MEB preference system. Check school name, district, type and registration-area colour on every row. MEB’s 2026 explanation distinguishes green, blue and red areas by residence; a colour does not promise admission. Compare the on-screen draft sequence with the list the family intended. Another student’s colour display cannot establish the area for your address. Keep local placement and schools admitting through the central exam in their respective parts of the interface. Verify the actual school identity, not only an abbreviated name. 2. What does saving accomplish? Saving choices can store a personal draft; the applicable guide may require a separate approval by a school office. The Istanbul Provincial Directorate’s 2026 preference information explicitly reminds families of school-office approval. Check how the system displays saved and approved states. Closing a page after clicking an option or printing a draft is not automatically the last transaction. Read which party is expected to confirm the list and by when in that year’s MEB guide. A screen showing “entered” should not be silently interpreted as “approved” without inspecting the specific status label. 3. What should a parent see? The student and parent should read the visible school order and types together. Distinguish similarly named schools by district, type and identifying details. If an unwanted school remains, examine the valid correction procedure before final approval. The number of choices and any selection requirement for school types depend on the guide for that cycle. Do not submit a ready-made list from an earlier year. Protect documents containing identity and address data from public messaging groups. If official help is needed, share only the required information with the authorized school office.
Errors and final checks
4. What if approval is absent? If the preference status still says draft or the school-office approval is absent, contact the relevant school management during the active period to inspect the student’s record. Reopening a list repeatedly may not identify the reason a transaction is missing. Note the year, interface and exact error message. Prefer the official system state to a verbal assurance that everything is done. An expired window cannot be assumed to reopen automatically or accept a retroactive approval. MEB’s current instructions govern any remedy for a particular student. Ask the school to identify the remaining step precisely. 5. Can a saved list be changed? Check the current MEB guide for the window and procedure for editing a school or order and then confirming again. A later edit to a saved list may affect the earlier school-office approval; read the latest displayed status. If a printed old list differs from the live sequence, verify the authoritative system record and seek clarification from the school office. Recheck registration area, school type and capacity before finalizing a last-minute change. Dates from the 2026 process cannot be carried forward as permanent rules. Retain a private record of the final accepted version. 6. What happens at results time? Store the approved list securely and open the official MEB placement result on the date announced for that year. Approval of a preference list does not guarantee a place at any specific school; capacity and placement criteria still apply. Any transfer round after the initial placement has its own schedule and conditions. Avoid third-party results pages asking for passwords. The decisive procedural check before results is that the intended school order and approval state appear correctly in the official system, not merely in a teacher’s chat message or an old screenshot.
