How should a YKS preference list be rechecked when the guide changes?
ÖSYM’s 2026 guide publication notice explicitly tells applicants to follow the edition republished during the preference window and official announcements. A list prepared from an early version may require review when a quota or condition changes, even if a programme code remains the same. Finding a revision involves more than comparing PDF filenames. Reconcile each intended choice against the current official row before completing the online preference transaction.
Guide editions and changed fields
1. Which edition should be used? Start at ÖSYM’s preference announcement for the exact examination year and open its current guide link. A previously downloaded draft or third-party preference list can outrank it in search results. Verify the year, publication context and most recent official notices. The 2026 publication notice said that the guide would be republished during the preference period. Do not assume every later-looking file is identical to the earlier one. Record the official link and date on which you checked it. A cached screenshot without a date is a weak basis for a final preference decision. 2. How do you mark a change? For each programme code in your draft, keep separate notes for institution, programme, score type, general and special capacities, teaching language and condition number. Compare those fields against the current ÖSYM table and mark the precise difference. A change of name and a change of eligibility condition can have different implications. A general report that the guide was revised does not mean every choice changed. Equally, an unchanged top programme code does not establish that all other rows stayed the same. Review the full intended sequence, including lower-ranked options that might become relevant in placement. 3. What if a footnote changes? A revised condition number or explanatory note requires more than rereading the numeric columns. Find the programmes to which the new text applies and consider its relevance to your circumstances. Do not dismiss a ranking, language, health or documentation condition on a personal guess. Eligibility under an earlier PDF cannot guarantee eligibility under a later operative edition. If the meaning remains unclear, ask ÖSYM with the exact programme code and revised clause. Depending on the official rule, a candidate might reorder or remove an option; the general article cannot make that personal judgment.
Revalidating the list
4. Does an AİS entry update automatically? If you have saved an AİS list, compare the displayed programmes with the current guide again. Discovering a PDF change does not prove that the online list was automatically altered as you would want. ÖSYM’s preference announcement tells candidates to perform the transaction themselves and complete it according to on-screen guidance. Check codes and order, edit within the applicable window if needed, and inspect the final completion state. A screenshot of an earlier draft is not evidence of the last submitted list. Keep personal login details away from advisers and public groups. 5. What does a quota change imply? A change in general or category-specific capacity does not yield a mechanical formula for next year’s lowest admitted rank or score. Record the new number and conditions without promising an outcome. Other candidates’ rankings and preference patterns matter too. Determine which quota column changed instead of looking only at the total. Read ÖSYM’s statistical releases separately from the operative guide. If a third-party tool displays the earlier number, use the current official table for a decision. Historical statistics can inform context but cannot overrule a new programme row. 6. How is the final list completed? Check the current code, name, score type, capacity and special conditions of every preference, then read the final sequence in AİS. Inspect the official screen state showing that the transaction was completed and keep a secure personal record. The ability to edit and the closing time belong to the announcement for the particular year; do not carry 2026 dates forward. If another correction is announced, repeat the comparison for affected rows. This is a method for recognizing changes and updating a choice, not a guarantee of admission to any programme.
