What is an investment management fee?

Added: 25 October 2026

A management fee pays for managing an investment fund or service.

Definition, calculation and mechanism

It is often quoted as an annual percentage of assets but may accrue daily in fund values. Also inspect trading, custody and performance charges. Small rate differences can compound over long periods.

Interpretation, examples and limits

Low cost alone does not ensure suitability or returns; strategy and risk matter. Check whether reported performance is before or after fees. Read current disclosure documents.
