Bulgaria heads to presidential runoff after low turnout
In the first round of the presidential election on October 25, Iliana Iotova received 34.7% of the vote, just under three points ahead of her opponent Andrey Gyurov. The disappointing result for the outgoing president was largely due to inflation and growing concerns over the impact of the war between Russia and Ukraine in the Black Sea.
